Do you ever wake up and already feel discouraged and the day hasn’t even began? Maybe your day started out great then something happened at work to ruin that great day. We have all been there.
Don’t give up! Don’t get discouraged. That’s what the devil wants you to do. Satan wants to turn us around and follow his plan instead of God’s plan for us. He wants us to have a bad day. Forget a deadline. Get stuck in traffic. Satan thrives off our frustrations.
When you feel that moment of frustration coming over you, take a moment, collect your thoughts and talk to God. He will help calm you. He will get you back on the right track. Being in God’s presence will transform us. We can change the negative day that Satan has planned by learning to seek God quickly when we sense our frustrations or our attitudes aren’t Christlike.
Apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5), but with and through Him, we can do all things (Phillippians 4:13).
We don’t need to let our feeling overrun our lives. What if someone offends us? The Bible says we are not to be easily offended or too touchy. We are all supposed to forgive easily. I don’t know about you, but this one is sometimes hard for me to follow. Sometimes I feel I go out of my way to be nice to people or to make sure they are included and I don’t get the same in return. I am sure this happens to all of us.
Taylor Swifts’ hit song “Shake it Off” is my new theme song! When I feel discouraged about my day, my attitude or by the way someone treated me, I simply sing “Shake it Off, Shake it Off.” Try it next time you feel that sting. I bet it will make you feel better, or at the very least make you smile!
Ladies, shake off that bad day and turn to God! He is there waiting for you. All you need to do is talk to Him. He is always listening!
Dear Heavenly Father, help me to stay focused on you and to seek you in discouraging and frustrating times. Help me to always be Christlike to everyone I encounter. Help me to see people for who they really are and not judge them based on the actions I am witnessing. Help me to understand that sometimes peoples behavior doesn’t reflect who they are. May I find encouraging uplifting words in that moment of frustration. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
Proverbs 3:3 NLT “Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart”.
