If you are on social media you might have noticed a lot of people sharing how thankful they are. I think it is great! I enjoy reading everyone’s thankful posts. Thanksgiving is a great time to reflect on what family means to you and just how grateful we are for the life we have. I am also a firm believer that being thankful creates positive vibes and a positive life. It also says throughout the Bible that we must be thankful for everything we have and to be thankful for where we are in life.
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Even when life throws us lemons we need to be thankful for the hand we are dealt. Think of it a lesson to be learned. Anytime I think “Oh why me Lord?” I quickly change my thoughts to be thankful for a God that will will guide me through the situation and I will come out the other side better than I was before. I have also learned in those situations of “why me” to start counting my blessings then I start to realize how amazing life truly is.
Have you ever heard the saying “drama attracts drama”? Well, think about this and someone that you may know that is always saying poor me. Everything seems to always be going wrong in their life and they are only focused on the negative. They aren’t counting their blessings and being thankful. Just imagine the change in that persons life if they really started their day by waking up and saying “thank you Jesus for another beautiful day.” Wow! What a difference just a few words can make!
So my 30 days of thankfulness challenge to you is to turn this into a lifetime of thankfulness. I know it’s easy to get caught up in the why me, but understand you can get through any situation you are going through when you put your faith in God. He won’t abandon you, he will guide you through the mess. “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
Dear Heavenly Father, I am so thankful for the life you have chosen for me. I pray everyday to show my gratitude to you and that it shines through me for others to see. I know no matter what comes my way I can turn to you for help. Thank you so much for the abundance of blessings. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
