You know that nervous feeling you get while sitting in the waiting room for a medical or dental appointment? Even if you are there for a check-up, it can sometimes be nerve wracking! If you are there waiting for your little one to be seen, then it is an entire different anxious feeling!
Our sponsors at Breath of Life Wellness Center are giving us a “behind the scenes” look at what to expect at your first chiropractic appointment at Breath of Life. During your first visit, the goal is to evaluate your spine and nervous system, determine how it is functioning and find where the stress and challenges are that need to be addressed.
1.) We are here! If the appointment is for you, no worries about bringing your little side-kicks. Dr. James has a special area in the waiting room just for the kiddos. If the appointment is for your little one, even better! They will look forward to stopping by and getting to take advantage of their kid’s corner.
2.) Getting to know you: After you get settled into an exam room, Dr. James (click here to read our feature on Dr. James) will come in and get to know you (or the patient) a little better. He will take note of your medical history and any issues you may be having. The more he knows about you and the challenges you are facing, the better he can do his job! Next, Dr. James will take a minute to discuss chiropractic care and best practices he has found for his office.
3.) Exam: During your exam, Dr. James will use Insight tm technology. Sounds scary, but it is a simple computerized test that helps him measure nerve interference along the spine. This process allows for increased accuracy in diagnosis, care and outcomes.
4.) That’s a wrap! After the exam, Dr. James will discuss his findings and what he believes would be best for treatment. Plan on at least an hour for your first visit, but don’t worry, after the initial visit you should be in and out in about 20 minutes.
Second visit: During your second visit, you will get the opportunity to ask lots of questions and discuss the findings from your initial exam (you will be given a Report of Findings). If additional consultations, exams, referrals or testing is needed, he will go over those as well. Most care plans at Breath of Life consist of 3 phases and Dr. James will walk you through that process. After you have all your questions answered, you will receive your first adjustment.
See! Not so scary! Dr. James and his staff will walk you through every step and get you in and out and on your way!
