From the traditional ceremony to the couple’s carriage parade through the streets and two lavish wedding receptions, Harry and Meghan dazzled English and American fans alike.
Just in case you were sleeping this weekend and didn’t get to see the Royal Wedding, here is a recap of some of the special moments.
Her veil featured flowers representing all 53 Commonwealth countries. Delicate hand embroidery embellishes the 16-foot-long piece of silk tulle. Some of the blooms include hibiscus for the Solomon Islands, black orchids for Belize, and of course English roses.
The bouquet paid tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales. “The spring blooms include Forget-Me-Nots which were Diana, Princess of Wales’ favorite flower,” a statement from Kensington Palace read. “The couple specifically chose them to be included in Ms. Markle’s bouquet to honor the memory of the late Princess on this special day.”
Prince Harry ignored a British tradition. The Duke of Sussex couldn’t resist watching his beautiful bride as she walked down the aisle, but his decision to turn away from the altar actually defied custom. “At a British wedding, the groom and his best man (or supporter) will face the altar as the bride walks down the aisle,” Myka Meira of Beaumont Etiquette previously told . “He won’t turn to look at her until she is beside him.” Prince Harry: Always the rebel!
The couple snuck a second kiss during the carriage ride. They couldn’t resist having another smooch! It was a fairytale day, after all.
The license plate on the getaway car featured their wedding date.
Meghan and Harry left for their second reception, hosted by Prince Charles at Frogmore House, in a silver blue 1968 Jaguar. The license plate bore the date of the royal wedding.
Meghan Markle sported some meaningful jewelry for the reception. Spotted on Meghan’s right hand as the couple sped off: Princess Diana’s emerald-cut aquamarine ring.
