Kid’s names and ages:
Kayley age 12, Jay age 10
Where are you from and how long have you lived in Southwest Missouri?
My husband and I are both from Cassville, MO. We attended college in Springfield, MO, and then we lived in Columbia, MO for 9 years while my husband attended Medical School and Residency, and then moved back to SWMO 4 years ago.
We love Silver Dollar City. We also love to go out on Table Rock Lake.
What is your favorite thing to do with friends in SWMO?
I mostly have coffee or grab lunch with friends….and we like to go to College Station—a little coffee shop in Joplin, or to Red Onion Espressoria in Joplin.
If you could have an entire day to yourself, how would you spend it?
I would spend every day that my kids are in school with my husband, if it was possible!
Describe your typical day.
I get the kids breakfast, make their lunches, drive them to school in Joplin (we live in Carthage), come home and go for a run, shower, and spend the rest of my day cleaning, doing laundry, and running any errands that I have to do for the family and/or house!
What is the most enjoyable thing about being a mother?
I love helping and watching them learn and love spending time with them. I also love to hear them laugh and watch them have fun
What is the most challenging part of being a mother?
I think that consistency in discipline was hardest when they were younger, but now I find it hard to find the “right” answers to their questions and problems……and I am finding it very difficult and sad to watch them grow so quickly!
They are really into making Helium Booth videos right now, and the last one they showed to me was hilarious!
What is your number one tip for keeping your house clean (or “cleanish”)?
I would say to keep up on it daily and do specific things on specific days.
How do you relax at the end of the day?
After the kids are tucked in and the house is picked up, my husband and I watch a favorite show or movie to wind down before bed. We have watched many, many seasons of many shows over the years!
I love my in-laws very much. I am very, very close to my mother-in law!
One word to sum me up: Grateful
