It is Saturday and it is 6:30 a.m. and I am tired.
I hear movement and a little cry coming from the monitor. I sleepily look at the clock. I think to myself, “please no! We don’t have to be anywhere for hours.” That cry quickly turns to toddler talk–perky toddler gibberish. All moms know what I am talking about and it means one thing: That kid is not going back to sleep.
I hear a second stir and then the pitter-patter of little feet. Little feet that belong to my four year old daughter to be exact. Looks like the one-man conversation in the room next door has woken her up too. I throw my comforter off me, roll out of bed and head downstairs to face the day. Whew, I can do this. I am mom!
Being mom means you are on the clock, 24/7, 365.
Sometimes Most of the time it is hard to find rest. The Bible commands us to rest, but how do we find the time to rest as busy mommas?
Exodus 34:21: Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest.
We must learn to find rest in Him. On those especially challenging moments and days, when you find yourself digging deep, pray.
I constantly find myself having to take time to pray throughout the day, just to get through those moments when I want to react and be less than nice to my hubby or my kids. The stresses associated with work can also be a challenge and require a few silent prayers throughout the day. Sometimes, it is harder than others. Sometimes, it seems impossible. He is there to take the burden and carry your exhaustion.
Matthew 11:28: Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
I am thankful to be a woman. I am thankful to be a mom, but it can be a struggle. Most of all, I am thankful that on those especially tough days (and on the great days too!) I have a Savoir who loves me (and you!) and wants to help us find rest and comfort.
