A few months ago at church we were doing a study titled “words to live by.” I loved all the words they were preaching on. However, one word in particular really stuck with me. It was a word I could implement right away in my daily life with family, friends and co-workers. The word that really resonated with me was encouragement.
I love this word, encouragement. The definition of encouragement is the action of giving someone support, confidence or hope. Encouragement is also the voice of God when you feel down, or less than. Encouragement is something God does. He is an encourager. He’s the God of all comfort. God is good and He does good. Encouragement is the purpose behind God’s word. Encouragement can change a person’s outlook. It can change the direction of their life. It’s truly a game changer. You will never offend someone by encouraging them. Everyone needs it, not matter who they are. Encouraging others is building their faith.
Our children need to hear encouraging words daily. Encourage them as they walk out the door for school. Tell them you believe in them, tell them you are so proud of them, tell them they are going to have an awesome day because they are awesome.
You don’t even need to know someone to encourage them. It could be the cashier at the grocery store that needs to hear an encouraging word.
Sin wants to make people think they can’t make it, that there is no hope. Sin wants people to doubt God’s word. It tries to deceive people and make them believe that God doesn’t care. Your simple encouragement could change the course of someone’s destiny
I challenge each of us to make it a habit to try and encourage someone daily.
Our dear heavenly father I pray for everyone reading this today that we be encouraged by your word. I pray that we find people in our daily lives to encourage. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
