Weight loss and eating healthy seems to be one of the top New Year’s resolutions. Since we are still fresh in the New Year we thought we would share some inspiring stories from real women who have lost half their size.
Without surgeries or magic weight-loss pills these women made manageable changes to lose half their body weight and have kept it off for year.
Meet Diana Anguh:
Age: 24 Height 5’4″
Diana has lost 140 lbs and has kept it off for more than 6 years. Food was her comfort zone. She overate when she was sad, happy and bored. She started focusing on eating less. If she wanted pizza she would keep it to one slice instead of several. She keeps it off now by staying hydrated. She drinks nearly a gallon of water a day. She snacks on grapes or a small bag of popcorn. If she feels herself slipping and eating poorly again she heads straight to the gym and she then feels great again.
Meet Ashley O’Reilly:
Age: 21 Height 5’4″
Ashley lost 135 lbs and has kept it off for 9 months now. She said she was never heavy, but when she turned 16 she was able to drive to any fast food restaurant she wished. She keeps it off by relying on Nutrisystem entrees because they help her control her portion sizes. However, if she has a day where she failed she tells herself tomorrow is a new day. You won’t gain 150 lbs overnight.
Meet Erika Cockrell
Age: 30 Height 5’6″
Erika has lost 167 lbs and has kept it off for 14 months. Erika gained her weight after her parents got divorced when she was 18. She started to get depressed and anxious and the weight starting piling on. She realized she had to make a change and set her goal of losing 150 lbs and getting her college degree. Erika doesn’t deprive herself of what she loves. She stays on track by buying snacks with set portions, like 100-calorie packs of popcorn, nuts, or chips.
Meet Lindita Halimi
Age: 27 Height 5’4″
Lindita has lost 130 lbs and has kept it off for 4 years. Lindita grew up in Kosovo. During the war they often didn’t know when they would eat again. So after the war she ate uncontrollably. She was in a singing competition when she was 19 and no one was focused on her singing. They all kept talking about her weight. That’s when she knew she needed to make a change. Lindita’s tips for keeping it off is not eating carbs after 5pm. However, during the day before she lifts weights she has a little pasta or rice. She says she hasn’t had pizza in five years.
